Girls
in this league are 9 or 10 years of age as of December 1st
The
goal of the 9/10 League is to transition the girls from the Instructional
League to the older age groups. To aid in the transition, we play with
some modification to the rules. The focus of this league is developing the
skills of the players, concentrating on the fundamentals of basketball
while allowing the girls to gain an understanding of the rules.
We
also start keeping score at this level so that the girls understand there
is a winner and loser for each game. There are no standings kept or
playoffs at this age level. Trophies are not awarded in this league. We do
hold an All Star Game for this league during our Annual SUPERSLAM.
The
season runs from Mid November (start of practice) until the end of March
at the latest. Games are played on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday games
generally will not start until after noon. Practices are held Monday thru
Friday nights, depending on gym allocation, starting at 6:30PM and ending
at 9:30PM.
Teams in this league will practice one night per week for about an hour.
