Winter 2020/21 Update

The circumstances surrounding COVID-19 will impact our travel and intramural basketball programs this season. At present, Central Bucks School District is not allowing use of their facilities for outside organizations. This is the case for school districts in surrounding areas as well. The only other option for gym time is private gyms. Unfortunately, we are competing for space with other organizations and at a much higher costs. For example, we pay $20 per night for a school gym and a private gym would cost $250 per night. Assuming we could obtain the space, registration fees would increase substantially.

Usually at this time of the year, travel tryouts would have been completed and teams would have been formed. We are going to continue to evaluate the travel program for this upcoming season. The ICBA, which is the league we typically play in, is hoping gyms become available and that they can start a season in January. We could probably secure gym space for tryouts, but we could not offer any practice time going forward. To be clear: we are not canceling travel basketball. We are simply going to continue to evaluate the situation and in the coming weeks make a decision to allow the girls to play in some capacity. Private facilities may be running travel leagues that would allow game play, but we would most likely have no practice time. At present, we see no urgency for tryouts until we get a clearer picture on the season.

We would like your feedback regarding our intramural program. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey so that we can plan the season accordingly.

Winter League (Intramural)

Intramural

WWGB offers an in-house winter program for girls in grades 1 through 12. The winter program typically runs from the end of December to late-March. Girls are grouped according to age; there are no try-outs.

Before practices for winter league begin, the girls will participate in an evaluation day to help asses relative skills and experience.

It is mandatory for all players to participate in evaluations. Please wear comfortable clothes, basketball shoes and bring a 28.5″ basketball.

These evaluations are important to help promote parity in the leagues. It is important that everyone attend.

After evaluation, the teams will be chosen and players will be notified by their coach regarding the start of practice.

Please Note: If you play travel for WWGB or any other organization, you cannot play in the WWGB Winter League (intramural).
